THIS IS SARAH,
An advertising student who graduated from The University of Oklahoma.
With a love for graphic/digital design and art direction.
My Journey
I started using Photoshop on my Mom’s old Dell laptop when I was around 10 years old. Back in the day, 2010 to be exact, Photoshop CS5 could be used without paying an arm and a leg. I used it mostly for illustration, as Paint just wasn’t good enough for me and I had no idea what Illustrator was at the time. I continued my hobby of art using Photoshop until that old Dell laptop kicked the bucket. After that I moved on to an iPad where illustration was much easier. My days without Photoshop were not long, the high school I attended provided us MacBooks to use for our time there. My sophomore year of school I enrolled in yearbook, where my skills in the Adobe application became more proficient. This is where my love for design and the Adobe applications took off, and my dream for a career using them was created.
My high school also required and internship to graduate, I interned at a local graphic design business called Marni G Designs. This confirmed my interest in graphic design and when it came the time to pick a college and major, I had my mind made up. Of course, I chose advertising rather than just graphic design. This is because I wanted my work to be powerful and wanted to make something that sticks in the mind of the viewer. Advertising is also something I can go many directions in, which was appealing if my interests ever shifted. These moments lead to where I am currently, about to graduate college with a drive to create work I am proud to show others and to work hard.
